Community-Led Research & Curatorial

At Walks With a Good Heart, LLC, my research and curatorial work are grounded in oral tradition, Indigenous truth-telling, and the reclamation of stories that have been silenced, erased, or misrepresented. I am guided by the understanding that our bodies, our stories, and our knowledge systems carry ancestral truths that must be honored, protected, and shared. Through this work, I aim to restore Indigenous visibility, cultural power, and the rightful place of our histories in the spaces where they have long been excluded.

Research Grounded in Indigenous Knowledge and Oral Tradition

I combine rigorous historical research with lived Indigenous knowledge, oral histories, and relational methodologies to uncover, uplift, and validate the experiences and cultural contributions that have been systematically erased or overlooked.

My research contributes to national and community-based efforts to reclaim Indigenous histories, including collaborative scholarship through the University of Chicago.

Curatorial Leadership and Indigenous Storytelling

As a curator and collaborator, I create and support artistic and cultural exhibitions that center Indigenous women’s stories, cultural resistance, and the restoration of Indigenous presence. My work has been featured in partnership with institutions like the Stone Center at the University of North Carolina and the Burpee Museum of Natural History, where I contribute to exhibitions that honor Indigenous voices and ensure our stories are visible and accessible to the public.

Community Power Building

Community power building is about creating spaces where Indigenous stories, leadership, and knowledge guide the work of transformation. I am honored to collaborate with organizations like the Floating Museum, whose commitment to bringing art into public spaces and uplifting stories that have long been untold deeply aligns with this vision. Together, we continue to bring forward the story of Kitihawa, a Potawatomi woman and a founder of Chicago, ensuring her presence is seen, honored, and remembered.
